Summer Camps at Lake George Regional Park
Camp Podooc registrations are now closed! Please consider registering your child for 2027. Registrations usually open in the spring and will be announced on the LGRP website and social media.
Camp Podooc
Camp Podooc is a day-camp conducted on the WEST side of Lake George Regional park that runs in 2 distinct 2-week sessions for area youth, grades 1-6. Monday through Friday, 8:45-2:30.
Special Note: The format for session eligibility has changed and is no longer based on residency. For the purposes of improved programming, session eligibility is now determined by school grade (see below)
Campers experience swim lessons, outdoor field games, nature crafts, environmental education and more.
2026 Camp Podooc Sessions
SESSION #1 (All Towns - Grades 1, 2 and 3) July 6 - 17, 2026
SESSION #2 (All Towns - Grades 4, 5, and 6) July 20 - 31, 2026
Parents provide transportation directly to Lake George (Drop off 8:45, pick up 2:30)
Campers must bring their own water/water bottle, snacks, and lunch.
Cost:
Canaan resident - Free
Skowhegan resident – Free (pending town approval at June Town Meeting)
Non-resident fee - $270 per session
Athens- Determined by the Town of Athens

Immunization Requirement
Immunization records must be submitted for each camper before registration can be finalized.
Skowhegan Shuttle Bus
A round-trip camper shuttle service from Skowhegan to Lake George Regional Park WILL NOT be available in 2026.
Lake George Swim Camp (Canceled)
Lake George Regional Park has made the difficult decision to cancel Swim Camp for the 2026 season.
Despite our efforts, we have not been able to recruit the additional certified lifeguard needed to safely operate the program this summer. At this point, there is no longer enough time to complete the required training and certification process, even if a candidate became available.
We understand this is disappointing and appreciate your understanding. Camp Podooc will still include a swim component for campers. Families seeking certified swim lessons are encouraged to contact the Alfond Youth & Community Center in Waterville.
We hope to bring Swim Camp back next summer. Anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard for a future season is encouraged to apply. Lake George Regional Park pays for the certification process for eligible applicants.

Swim Camp Session
August 3 - 7, 2026
Time: 9:15 am to 2:30 pm
Cost:
$175 / student
Maximum of 16 students
The 2026 swim camp will focus on beginner swimmers. The focus will be on:
Stroke Development: Additional guided practice will help students improve their skills.
Stroke Improvement: Swim front crawl with rotary breathing. Demonstrate backstroke, elementary backstroke & breaststroke. Enter the water by jumping from the side. Dive from sitting and kneeling position.
There are no age or grade restrictions, and acceptance is based on the swimmer's skills and alignment with the program. It is intended that Summer Camp Swim Programming will evolve with the overall ability of the participating students.

Park Policy: Lake George Regional Park is a public park and will remain open to the public during camp hours. Only staff and campers are authorized to be part of camp activities during camp. If you are a park member or choose to pay the park fee, we ask that you follow park rules and keep a respectful distance from camp activities. In many cases the Park will encourage patrons to utilize the Park’s East side while camps are in session. Beach use and swimming on the West Side is not available to the public during camp hours. If you wish to swim at this time please use the East Side of the Park.
