Somerset Snowfest 2020

This February 28th, 29th and March 1st, Lake George Regional Park (LGRP), is collaborating with Main Street Skowhegan to facilitate our annual Somerset Snowfest! The Somerset Snowfest will encompass events in Skowhegan, Madison and Canaan.

Lake George Regional Park will be contributing the following to this years SnowFest.


Schedule of Events

February 29, 2020
– Paws to Pinnacle Hike (see below for details)
– Box Sled Race (see below for details)
– Downhill Kayak Race – Registration and Information
– Chili Cook-Off – Registration and Information
– Warming Hut / Concession Stand

March 1, 2020
– Ice Fishing Derby – Registration and Information
– Winter Triathlon – Registration and Information
– Warming Hut / Concession Stand

Information & Registration

Paws to Pinnacle Hike

February 29th,  10:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Location: East Side Trail Parking Lot Lake George Regional Park
Details:
– LGRP will provide a leader for the hike
– All dogs must be leached
– This guided hike will start in the parking lot, hike through the LGRP trails to the Pinnacleand then back to the parking lot.
– Please dress appropriately

Warming Hut / Concession Stand

February 29th, 730 AM to 12 PM
March 1st 8 AM to 3 PM
Details:
– We will have hot drinks (coffee and hot cocoa)
– Warm food such as chili or soup
– Multiple other food items

Kids Box Sled Derby

February 29th 2020, 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM ish
All participants must wear a helmet and sign a waiver/hold harmless agreement.
Location: West Side Lake George Regional Park

Nature building will be set up
– Warming Hut / Concession Stand
– Outside fire pits

Sled Derby
– Starts at 8:30 AM go till all participants have gone
– Please have no loose items on the Box Sled
– Make your sled one of a kind!

Prizes will start after race has ended
– Multiple trophies will be awarded
– All registered box sleds will be entered to win 1 of 3 LGRP Family Season Pass

*** At 10 AM we will have a Downhill Kayak Race, the hill will be closed just for the kayak race and open again once race is over. This should take about 20 to 30 minutes. Please stick around and either enjoy the Warming Hut / Concession Stand or enjoy watching some crazy kayakers race done the hill!
After the race the hill is open for sleds and box sleds for the day!!!
