"Anything But a Sled" Downhill Race

You can still register in person on February 14 during the SnowFest Winter Carnival at Lake George Regional Park, prior to the start of the event.

This event is not about speed — it’s about creativity, absurdity, and commitment. If it slides and makes us laugh, it belongs here. Bad ideas welcome!

Anything But a Sled celebrates DIY creativity, Maine-style weirdness, and ridiculous ideas brought to life on the hill. From upcycled contraptions to full costume commitment, this event is all about leaning into the chaos and having fun.

Creative Themes to Lean Into

• Maine weirdness and humor
• Upcycled chaos (objects reborn as sleds)
• Costume + contraption = full commitment
• Ridiculous ideas that somehow still slide

Build & Safety Rules

Participants must follow all build and safety requirements:

• Human-powered only — no motors or propulsion devices
• Must be safe for a shared sledding hill
• No glass, blades, or protruding metal
• Rider must be able to sit or lie down securely
• Steering and braking by body movement only
• Must fit through the standard hill start area (no mega-builds)
• Event staff may disqualify any build deemed unsafe (no hard feelings)

All participants must:

• Wear a helmet
• Have a waiver/hold harmless agreement signed by a parent or guardian at check-in
• Be registered before hitting the hill

Additional Details

• Check-in begins at 10:45 a.m. to organize competitors
• Event runs from 11:00 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m.
• Prizes will be awarded after the race has ended
