Annual Fund Appeal

For over 30 years, Lake George Regional Park has been more than just 350 acres of beautiful Maine wilderness and waterfront; it's a living promise. It's a "third place"—a public sanctuary away from home and work, saved from development by the shared vision of our founders and the continuous generosity of neighbors like you. This park is truly a community space, brought to life by, swimmers in the lake, families hiking the trails, friends launching boats, children attending summer camp, gatherings for picnics and local events like Maine's Garlic Fest and Somerset SnowFest.

Our core mission has never wavered: to ensure that community access to nature and our park is inherent, by keeping our user fees low for everyone.

You've likely heard about the exciting renovation of the Margaret Chase Smith Social Hall into an outdoor recreation center and event space. This project, made possible by a successful capital campaign and grant funding, is a vital step toward long-term stability of the park. However, the reality is that the future building with its potential to generate new revenue can't cover today's essentials. Until complete and operational, it doesn't pay for the current daily maintenance of our 350 acres, keep the beaches and public boat launch clean and safe, or ensure our picnic grounds are pristine for your next visit. Today, that bridge between our low user fees and operational needs is the Annual Fund.

This is why your gift matters so much right now. Your support is an investment in the day-to-day operations and the authentic character of this place we all share. It's a vote for keeping the gates open for everyone who needs a place to connect with nature and each other.

Will you help us reach our $20,000 Annual Fund goal? Every dollar goes directly to daily operations and ensures this cherished park remains yours to enjoy. Your support can make a difference:

Together, we can ensure Lake George continues to be a place where people connect with nature and each other.  Your generosity is an investment in public access, natural beauty, and the enduring vitality of our community. Thank you for being part of this success story.

You can help by purchasing a park pass, making a donation and/or volunteering. Our success depends on your generosity. Remember, the park belongs to all of us. Please use it wisely and well to preserve it for now and for future generations.

Most of our expenses involve the staffing and resources necessary to sustain, maintain, and protect the park. Established in 1992, owned by the State, and managed by Lake George Corporation (a 501 C-3 non profit entity), we do not receive state funding. While the Board of Directors continues to identify strategies to ensure the continued financial viability of the park, we rely on the support of volunteers, donations, and advertising revenue to sustain our operations annually.

With deep gratitude,
Darryll White
Director, Lake George Regional Park

P.S. Starting in January 2026, donors will be able to take cash contributions to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations as a separate deduction in addition to claiming the standard deduction.
This is a notable change from the recent past, where many taxpayers found it difficult to itemize deductions (including charitable gifts) in amounts greater than the increased standard deduction. Under the new rules, this restriction is removed, making your charitable giving more tax-efficient regardless of whether you itemize other expenses. We encourage our donors to keep this change in mind and to consider along with their tax advisors; making their annual fund gift in January of 2026 to maximize their potential tax benefit.Your content goes here.
